MRI creates very detailed images of the brain, spine, joints and organs, with no radiation. We offer an open upright MRI and a high-field MRI.

What is it?
MRI uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves, not X-rays, to create detailed pictures in thin slices.
Some exams use a contrast dye called gadolinium, injected into a vein, to show certain tissues more clearly.
Open upright MRISit or stand during your exam. More comfortable if you feel claustrophobic, and ideal for spine and joints in a weight-bearing position.
High-field MRIA stronger magnet for very detailed images of any body area, including the brain, abdomen and blood vessels.

Your visit
- Check-inWe review a short safety form and ask about metal or implants.
- Get comfortableYou may change into a gown. In the open MRI you can sit or stand.
- Stay stillYou will hear tapping sounds. The technologist can see, hear and talk to you at all times.
- DoneYou can go home and return to normal activities.
How to prepare
- No need to change your diet or medicines, except for MRCP (nothing to eat or drink for 2 hours).
- Wear clothes without metal. Leave jewelry, watches and credit cards at home.
- Tell us if you have a pacemaker, stent, implant or any metal in your body.
- Tell us if you are pregnant or have kidney problems.

Common questions
I'm claustrophobic. Can I still have an MRI?
Yes. Our open upright MRI lets you sit or stand with much more space, so most anxious patients feel comfortable.
Does MRI use radiation?
No. MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves.
